Kowloon Park swimming pool: refloating a sunken floor panel
A movable pool-floor panel sank to the bottom of the pool. Divers raised it evenly using inflatable hoses and floats.

Not all diving is at sea. At Kowloon Park the movable floor panel of a swimming pool had sunk to the bottom and had to be raised without damage.
- Divers tied two Ø200 mm × 25 m hoses to the tail of the panel, lashed every 1.5 m. Each hose gives about 780 kg of lift.
- The hoses were inflated to push the water out.
- The air was fed in steadily so the panel rose level.
- Once it floated, 80-litre floats were fixed every 1.8 m to hold it in balance with the floating section.
We also drew the 6-wheel and 12-wheel hydraulic jack carriages for the panel mechanism.
