Repairing a jetty in open water starts with giving people somewhere safe to stand. For the jetty at Lamma Power Station we designed a set of temporary working platforms that clamp onto the existing piles below the deck, a separate platform for working on the fender dolphins, and a vertical lifting frame for raising materials from boat level.
The drawings were prepared in 2012 with a full material list, so the steelwork could be ordered, fabricated and assembled on site without further design. We also drew a steel navigation marker buoy for the works area: a Ø2 m float divided into four watertight compartments, with a Ø1 m ballast chamber, lamp seat and lockable battery box.
