Peng Chau submarine pump station: condition survey
A diver survey of an offshore pump station built from four precast rings, gridded like a clock face so every defect could be located.

The Peng Chau pump station is a round structure standing in the sea, built from four precast rings from +16'2" down to −15' PD, with a 30-inch pipe manifold serving the mains to Hong Kong Island, Lantau, Hei Ling Chau and Peng Chau.
To record defects on a round wall, we gridded it like a clock face from north: a vertical line every "15 minutes" from the top to the seabed, with level marks every 4'6". Divers and shore staff then checked the inner and outer walls for spalling, exposed reinforcement, cracks, damaged fittings and wave erosion, and measured every joint. The seabed around the station was inspected on the same polar grid.
